Customers should migrate from the Legacy Web Clip App Catalog to Intelligent Hub (90484)

  • Why should you move?  Customers who are still using the Legacy Web Clip App Catalog are strongly encouraged to move to the app catalog on Intelligent Hub for the best admin and end-user experience. No new features will be released to the legacy web clip. Improvements and changes will only be made to Intelligent Hub platforms. Intelligent Hub provides a modern catalog experience for employees to discover, install, and launch apps.  The catalog can be accessed as a native app on iOS, Android, macOS, or Windows 10 devices, or accessed via web browser on any device. With Intelligent Hub and Hub Services enabled, admins can also enable other features and tabs such as the Support tab, Notifications, Custom tab, etc. for their end-users.
  • What are the considerations?
We understand that there are currently capabilities that the legacy app catalog supports that the Intelligent Hub app does not currently support. The following are the gaps we have identified and will be working to bring to Intelligent Hub for parity:
    • Support for Terms of Use flow for Apps in the App Catalog
    • Books in the App Catalog
    • Installing And viewing Web Clip Support on Android
  • How do I report a gap?
If there are gaps that are not listed above that are blocking your migration to Intelligent Hub, please create a ticket on Aha! or reach out to your VMware Account team or our support team.
  • What should I do?  For the best app catalog experience, use the Intelligent Hub.  For a guidance on how to migrate to Intelligent Hub’s App Catalog or to learn more about the advantages of using Intelligent Hub catalog instead of the legacy web clip catalog, please refer to the following article: https://techzone.vmware.com/blog/moving-day-migrating-legacy-web-clip-app-catalog-intelligent-hub

Workspace ONE UEM – Removal of support of specific versions of Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server for installation (90455)

  • We have identified that specific versions of Microsoft’s Windows Server OS and SQL Server will not meet the minimum technology requirements for upcoming releases of Workspace ONE UEM. As such, VMware will deprecate support for the following versions of Microsoft software in upcoming releases of Workspace ONE UEM:
    • Windows Server 2012 R2 (and lower)
    • Windows SQL Server 2012 Standard
    • Windows SQL Server 2012 Enterprise
    • Windows SQL Server 2014 Standard
  • These changes will be effective with Workspace ONE UEM 2302 (February 2023 release) and higher.
To deploy Workspace ONE UEM 2302 or higher, please ensure that:
  • Your application servers run a supported OS:
    • Windows Server 2016
    • Windows Server 2019
    • Windows Server 2022
  • The database is deployed on a supported edition of SQL Server:
    • Windows SQL Server 2014 Enterprise
    • Windows SQL Server 2016 Standard or Enterprise
    • Windows SQL Server 2019 Standard or Enterprise
  •     Please refer to the Recommended Architecture Guide for additional details on required software and hardware configurations, and up to date information for your version of Workspace ONE UEM.

Samsung S22 Android 13 Devices Cannot Enroll into Work Profile (90418)

  • UPDATE 12/16: The issue is now resolved via a server-side fix.
An issue has been discovered where Samsung S22 devices running Android 13 are unable to enroll into Work Profile mode.  The user will see an error during Work Profile creation and will not be able to complete enrollment.
  • UPDATE 12/16: The issue is now resolved via a server-side fix.
Users may reboot their device to receive an updated Google Play setting, which corrects the issue with downloading the Android Device Policy app during Work Profile configuration.
In case a reboot does not correct the issue:

Users may be able to resolve the issue by installing the “Android Device Policy” application from the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc
In the Google Play Store, search for “Android Device Policy”.  Install this application before proceeding with enrollment.

AAPP-15127: Enrollment Allowlist with IMEI not working on iOS 15.6+ devices without SIM (90480)

  • After implementing an Enrollment Allowlist based on device IMEI, enrollment is incorrectly blocked on iOS devices that do not have a physical SIM card or an active eSIM.
  • iOS version identified: iOS 15.6+
  • Upon enrollment, iOS devices send Workspace ONE UEM a list of attributes, including IMEI. Workspace ONE UEM evaluates these attributes against Allowlists and Denylists to determine whether enrollment should be allowed or denied. We have observed devices running iOS 15.6 and above are not sending their IMEI when missing a physical SIM card or active eSIM. Because devices are omitting their IMEI, they are not recognized as allowed for enrollment and therefore denied enrollment.
  • Device enrollments are denied despite being allowed if Allowlist is based on IMEI.
Note: this issue also impacts Denylist functionality
  • VMware has reported this issue to Apple. If you have AppleCare Support, we recommend contacting Apple for more information. Please subscribe to the KB for future updates.
  • Configure an Allowlist based Serial Number or Unique Device Identifier (UDID). For more information on Allowlist and Denylist functionality, please see our Workspace ONE UEM Denylist and Allowlist Device Registrations documentation.

Now after having conducted significant and careful testing, these architecture updates, including a new control plane, will be deployed to UEM SaaS environments over the next several weeks, with options available to on-premise customers after this roll-out (Later in 2022).
    • Support Access Policies for Customers with Expired SaaS EUC Licenses (89494)
